1. Associate Accountant

VonLehman & Company – Indianapolis, IN

ROLE: Provides full-service, or any variation of bookkeeping services, prepares compilations and financial statements.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BA in Accounting.  Familiar with applicable accounting software and a Microsoft Windows environment.

BASIC DUTIES:

• Prepares/records accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Reconciles bank accounts
• Monitors cash, prepares cash reports
• Calculates finance charges, commissions, bonuses, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Ability to do research
• Requests additional information when needed
• Asks questions to assure efficiency
• Flexibility to meet various assignments needed by client
• Excellent Time Management Skills

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

2. Audit & Accounting Staff

VonLehman & Company – Indianapolis, IN

ROLE: Prepares monthly/quarterly compiled financial statements, audits and reviews financial statements and prepares corporate personal tax returns.   

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BA with a minimum of 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Familiar with current accounting practices, software and a Microsoft Windows environment.

BASIC DUTIES:

• Participates in audits, reviews and compilations
• Keeps current on all professional pronouncements, such as SFAS, SAS, GAAS
• Prepares business and personal tax returns
• Performs period-end closing activities as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• General understanding of accounting principles
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work extended hours during busy season
• Minimal travel within Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Co-op or internship in Public accounting

3. Audit Manager

VonLehman & Company - Indianapolis, IN 

ROLE: Leads profitable engagements within a "focus industry." Maintains client relationships.  Responsibilities are performed through direct reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: CPA; BA with a minimum of 6 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Expert in current accounting practices, software and a Microsoft Windows environment.

BASIC DUTIES:

• Plans and staffs for engagements
• Mentors and evaluates staff; delegates when appropriate
• Manages work quality including audits, financial statements & work papers; reviews staff work as necessary
• Actively seeks opportunities in attracting new business

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Experienced in audits, concerns and best practices for your focus industry (either Healthcare, Manufacturing & Distribution, Government & Not-for-Profit or Financial Services)
• Expert knowledge of accounting principles, audit and attest practices with general knowledge of FASB
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work extended hours during busy season
• Minimal travel within Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana

4. Part-time Bookkeeper

VonLehman & Company – Cincinnati, OH (Fort Mitchell office location)

Key Responsibilities & Expectations 

  • Responsible for regular processing of payroll, adjustments to withholdings, benefits and spreadsheet tracking.
  • Makes appropriate adjusting entries in the firm’s accounting system
  • Tracks key information in spreadsheets and is able to use in reporting
  • Is able to serve as a backup for AP and AR transactions
  • Supports other accounting support functions within Accounting Services as directed by the Controller

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 2 year degree in Accounting is preferred
  • Experienced in payroll administration
  • Experienced in general ledger entry
  • Preferably experienced with billings and invoice transactions at a professional services firm

Skills & Abilities

  • Is detail oriented and organized
  • Proficient with current payroll software(s)
  • Efficient in accounting and payroll systems transaction entry
  • Enjoys the pace that a professional services firm can provide

5. Director, Litigation Support Services (Accounting)

VonLehman & Company – Cincinnati, OH (Fort Mitchell office location)

ROLE: Responsible for forensic accounting, fraud investigations, litigation support and accounting valuations.  Works closely with client businesses and law firm partners.  Maintains client relationships and develops new clients. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BS in Accounting with a minimum of 10 years progressively responsible forensic accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Demonstrated ability to provide specialized litigation support while developing and maintaining solid client relationships.  

 

BASIC DUTIES:

• Uncovers relevant documents, hidden data and transactions
• Searches for unrecorded income and reconstructs incomplete/inaccessible records
• Prepares detailed business valuations
• Quantifies economic damages (i.e. losses incurred from a breach of contract)
• Supports discovery and trial preparation
• Prepares formal reports, exhibits and visual aids to support trial evidence
• Evaluates opposing expert witness testimony and damage reports
• Assists with settlement negations
• Actively seeks opportunities in attracting new business

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Hands-on forensic accounting experience in criminal and/or civil investigations, shareholder and/or partner disputes, mediation and arbitration
• Fraud, business and professional negligence investigatory experience
• Litigation support experience related to business interruption, property loss and employee dishonesty insurance claims
• Investigative skills to trace and evaluate assets in marital disputes
• Analytical skills to quantify business economic losses linked to contract disputes, construction claims, expropriations, product liability claims, trademark and patent infringements and breach of non-compete agreements
• Organizational ability to successfully manage multiple projects for multiple clients
• Strong client relationship skills to develop and maintain strong customer relationships
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills 
• Willingness to travel within Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Public accounting experience
• NACVA certification

 

6. In-Charge/Senior Tax Accountant

VonLehman & Company – Indianapolis, IN

ROLE: Prepares and reviews Federal, State or Local individual, business and other organization tax returns.  Supervises staff accountants and is responsible for engagements within a “focus industry.” 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: CPA; BA with a minimum of 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Familiar with current accounting practices, software and a Microsoft Windows environment.

BASIC DUTIES:

• Helps manage preparation and review of Federal, State and Local returns for a wide variety of industries
• Handles client engagements at appropriate in-charge level
• Earns the respect and trust of clients
• Mentors, develops and gives performance feedback to staff

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Experience in tax preparation for individuals and  for focus industries of Healthcare, Manufacturing & Distribution, Government & Not-for-Profit or Financial Services
• Experience in review and compliance
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work extended hours during busy season
• Minimal travel within Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio

Cincinnati, OH (Fort Mitchell or Blue Ash office location) and Indianapolis, IN

ROLE: Supervises staff accountants and is responsible for engagements within a “focus industry.”  Maintains client relationships.  Responsibilities are performed personally or through direct reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: CPA; BA with a minimum of 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Familiar with current accounting practices, software and a Microsoft Windows environment.

BASIC DUTIES:
